Learning
CallingtheCape has embarked on a learnership project aimed at developing the skills of the unemployed in the Western Cape. CallingtheCape has identified the need for talent development within the contact centre industry to ensure the right skills are developed to support the industry's growth. CallingtheCape launched the CADET (Career Assessment Development Education and Training) scheme in 2005 where more than 160 learnerships by the Services SETA created more than 120 jobs, providing previously disadvantaged young people with a start to working life. They addressed any educational shortfalls they had and built up their confidence via practical experience in the contact centre environment.
CallingtheCape is currently administering 280 learnership on the CADET program for 2007/2008. Learners who participate in this program will be given specific call centre training and practical experience in outbound and inbound environments. The qualification is aligned to an NQF Level 2 internationally recognized certificate. The training is for nine months and a full time commitment is required from a learner. Learners will receive an allowance during their study period.
We are confident that by the end of the learnership every student will have attained adequate experience and have developed a high level work ethic.
CallingtheCape Cadet 111 Phase 11 "Expression of Interest"
The CallingtheCape CADET programme has successfully trained and placed unemployed and previously disadvantaged communities within the Western Cape. The programme sponsored by PGWC has also created a pool of skilled staff for the industry to draw upon.
This year the Talent Development division will be upskilling in excess of 250 youth over a period of 3 months. These learners will gain an NQF Level 2 Contact Centre Support qualification sponsored by SETA.
After the completion of this training these learners will be presented to the industry for an internship, where a minimum of 6 months workplace experience is needed.
During the six months that the learners are in the contact centre they will be assessed by our team of registered Assessors and deemed competent based on the POE outcomes.
CallingtheCape would like to invite the Contact Centre Industry employers to participate in this exciting project and to benefit from enthusiastic, willing and trained staff who can be retained after the project ends.
The following is required to participate in this project:
- A workstation in your contact centre
- Secondary training i.e. Product, Process and Technology
- HR induction and other training applicable to a new recruit
- Performance statistics which will be used to build their Portfolio of Evidence
- Team leaders or Supervisors to coach and mentor the learners in the workplace
- Allow Assessors access to the learners to conduct interim assessments, live call observations and interviews.
All applications for consideration must be submitted to CallingtheCape – Talent Development Division by close of business on Monday, 17th March 2008. Please register your Expression of Interest by clicking on the icon below.
