CSC is one of the few premier global outsourcers to have set up in Cape Town. It established initially a BPO operation, processing life, pensions and annuity business on behalf of one major client in the US (Swiss Re). It has subsequently won further business from the UK insurance market and is in the process of establishing a 200 seat call centre.
CSC’s agents in Cape Town on average are educated to matric level and have 4-6 experience in the insurance industry. (The presence of South Africa’s three largest life assurers in Cape Town was a key motivational factor behind the company’s decision to build in Cape Town).
CSC is processing the same business in Cape Town, India, and the US. According to local company management, staff are equalling and exceeding productivity standards in both the US and India.

We came to Cape Town because of the depth of insurance experience here, both front and back office. We compete against other international CSC operations for business and one of the biggest selling points for the SA operation has been the productivity. We are hitting and even surpassing US standards for policy administration. We look for matriculants with 4-6 years experience and at any time we have at least 50 people waiting in the wings, waiting to join us, with the requisite skills and experience. The labour pool here is deep and the people hard-working.
